What was the main reason why you wanted to become a trainer?

I have always been driven to let others succeed on their way to becoming a healthier version of themselves. Sport and movement are crucial for me and turning this passion into a profession was a logical progression.

For me, this is the perfect combination of doing what I love to do!

Why do you believe everyone needs to have a coach to stay healthy?

Everyone can benefit from that extra layer of accountability. Having a coach provides precision in observation and application that ensures safety and efficiency to progress towards one’s goals. 

Even we coaches benefit from working out with fellow coaches/colleagues. Having someone to push you on days where you don’t feel your best/adjust the workout accordingly is also key.

We often forget that accountability for our own actions is one of the most crucial aspects, especially when you are not training with us. And even then, we are here to guide you.

What is the biggest misconception / myth out in the world about health and wellness?

The misconception is that we must follow extreme diets to lose weight or to perform lots of cardio to shed those unwanted kilogrammes. 

The world no longer wants to keep things simple. People watching fitness entertainment online and mistaking it for fitness education is a common trend I see when understanding clients’ goals.

Many trainers on the internet demonstrate exercises that they do not perform themselves regularly while endorsing products that they do not believe in themselves. The fitness industry can do a lot better in educating the masses, and the general public should be careful of who they are taking notes from.

What I do want to say is do not believe everything on the internet as the truth.

For you personally, what makes Aspire stand out from the crowd?

Unlike many other fitness centres, Aspire truly holds tight to a holistic approach, allowing clients to move closer to their goals as efficiently and pain-free as possible, while feeling good. In addition, genetic DNA testing and (HRV) Heart Rate Variability analysis provide further precision and remove any second-guessing, allowing us to be as precise as possible in programming. As far as I know, Aspire is the only independent fitness centre in the country providing this science-based methodology for assessing clients’ health markers. 

Last but certainly not least, the team’s advice on movement in combination with proper nutrition is second to none.

From your experience as a trainer, what is the biggest struggle for clients these days?

It may sound obvious but staying consistent is one of the hardest things for our clients. Time and time again, we see those hard-earned gains going down the drain during holidays or when having a challenging month at work.

The demands of today’s society can be tempted not to see continuation and this is something I found myself putting the focus on keeping the proverbial engine running.

A fun fact about you

My work is also my passion. I really enjoy working out in my spare time, be it alone or with fellow Aspire coaches.

Having a bit of competition is not a bad thing. As a big football fan (Manchester United), I love to regularly hit the football pitch and play a game or two.
