What was the main reason why you wanted to become a trainer?
The feeling of not being under control and not knowing what steps are needed to work on one’s health is what most of us face one day in our lives. Be it mental issues, body weight, ailments, or even confidence levels, I, too, have experienced these in my past.
My personal encounters of a similar nature, and knowing how positive the outcome has turned out, were an eye opener for me. The knowledge and tools I possess now have not only helped my clients but also myself. I still am my own client every day, recognizing my blind spots and asking for help from those with more knowledge in avoiding mistakes I made in the past.
Personally, becoming a trainer has hugely benefited my life in so many ways.
Why do you believe everyone needs to have a coach to stay healthy?
As a trainer, I see the same mistakes being repeated, because humanity is not aware of how our environment has changed. In comparison, our bodies have not changed at the same pace.
The result is that people know what they need to change and try it on their own as most of them do not succeed. Their methods do not work because they are not aware of the mistakes they make. Be it in exercise, nutrition, and even rest.
With my expertise and years of coaching experience under my belt, I possess the knowledge to truly transform lives to the individual needs of my clients. Educating is essential on how and what good health is. Just like my clients, I never stop learning to become better.
What is the biggest misconception / myth out in the world about health and wellness?
As an exercise and nutrition specialist, I often find it hard to understand why there is just so much misinformation out there. From inaccurate advice on, for example, proper squat techniques to cutting out carbs as the sole solution to losing weight are merely a few of the myths I bring forward in my coaching approach.
By default, we fall back on the school books of what defines proper health and movement. But one person is not the same as the other person, making these misconceptions about i.e. knees not passing the toes during a squat. Science has come a long way and will progress with time to zoom in that we know more now than a couple of years ago.
For you personally, what makes Aspire stand out from the crowd?
Having experienced other fitness centres and approaches for getting clients leaner and fitter, Aspire does so much more than just working out. The well-known and internationally acclaimed brands take up only a small percentage of what true health is.
Before, during and after each workout, we continue staying in touch with our clients. The journey of achieving a client’s goal is an ongoing process, and this includes sleep, diet, habit changes and stress management. Without having this under control or making small sustainable changes, our 1-on-1 coaching sessions in our private studio will not work.
From your experience as a trainer, what is the biggest struggle for clients these days?
Eradicating less preferred habits is, and always will be, a challenge for any trainer. Goal setting entails creating the right practices to hitting the right road to success. Having not enough sleep, inactivity during the rest of the day and not applying the knowledge I try to bring forward requires us here at Aspire to stay on top of things.
We all share the same feeling; a certain amount of responsibility to guide our clients accurately toward what they want to see change for the good. But I remain patient and positive, and this is a step in the right direction for me.
A fun fact about you
My work is my hobby. The hours outside my client’s training sessions are dedicated to keeping my physique in check. Lifting heavy weights definitely has my preference above anything else. When at home, reading is one of my preferred things to do to unwind and reset my mind and body for the following day. Sport is playing an important role in my life, as you can imagine, with football definitely being on top of my list of favourites.
