Physio

What was the main reason why you wanted to become a trainer/physio?

I have always been a bit of an analyst, and this slowly moved into learning about the movement of the human body. Understanding the human movement system and the kinetic chain, the decision to study to become a physiotherapist was like second nature.

When looking around, I feel obliged to assist people to move well and move better. Today’s society is not moving enough, not accurately, and leaving many in discomfort. Seeing clients making remarkable changes and feeling better is what drives me.

Why do you believe everyone needs to have a coach to stay healthy?

The internet is inundated with inaccurate advice and patterns that do more harm than good. It does not have to be complicated, on the contrary. As a physio, and honouring my code of conduct, I feel it is my obligation in keeping everyone healthy.

Too many people, especially here in Bangkok, need to have that little guidance. Health is not something that comes automatically. And if you do not know where to start, because there is so much information out there, the results will show sooner than one may think together with a coach.

What is the biggest misconception / myth out in the world about health and wellness?

Too many physiotherapists concentrate purely on putting the responsibility for a successful health change onto the patient. Accountability is indeed important, but it is not always easy to uphold. Excessive use of physio machines supports this thesis that so-called “passive treatments” are not the way forward and leave the client on their own after a physio session.

I am a fervent supporter of active treatment strategies. A collaboration where I team up with the client and create a post-treatment partnership. Even after 45 minutes, the journey must go on. We, as physiotherapists, are just as responsible for keeping the client moving well.

For you personally, what makes Aspire stand out from the crowd?

Clients often believe that short-term gains are possible for long-term success. Progress can be a massive hurdle to overcome, however, work in keeping your body up and running properly requires action. Not by relying on motivation.

Clients want instant gratification and expect from the trainer that success is a given. But with everything in life, we have our peaks and valleys – our good moments and lesser days.

When success is not instant, clients seek other opportunities to get to their goal without realising that staying consistent is what guarantees success.

spire’s core values go beyond putting the client first. There is a uniform sense of responsibility that goals are the driving factors. Progress reports, strategy sessions between coaches and clients, and how the complete team brings forward that sense of responsibility are part of our daily responsibility.

We are different because, at Aspire, we are all experts in our field of health and well-being. From nutrition to sleep and learning the skills for better performance on all levels, this is not something you will find at other fitness centres.

From your experience as a trainer, what is the biggest struggle for clients these days?
