What inspired you to become a physiotherapist?
I’ll be honest—when I was younger, I didn’t have a clear vision of what I wanted to become. I was an average student with no special dreams, and my choice to study physical therapy was initially driven by the fact that my grades qualified me for it. But once I started diving into the world of physiotherapy, something clicked. I discovered a better version of myself as a student and as a person.
This journey wasn’t just about academics; it was about unlocking my potential to truly make a difference. The more I learned and practiced, the more I appreciated the profound impact physiotherapy could have on people’s lives. I found immense satisfaction in helping patients solve their health issues and tackle complex cases, which pushed me to grow and refine my skills continuously. It’s this process of learning, evolving, and making a difference that has kept me passionate about being a physiotherapist to this day.
Why do you believe having a coach is essential for good health?
Good health goes beyond just having the right mindset—it’s about having access to the right guidance. Sure, the internet offers a vast amount of information on health, fitness, and wellness, but that’s part of the problem. The overwhelming amount of conflicting advice can leave people confused about what’s right or wrong.
Even when individuals try to implement changes on their own, they often face challenges or side effects that derail their progress. A coach helps bridge this gap by providing tailored advice and strategies that suit an individual’s unique lifestyle. They don’t just help you achieve your health goals—they stand by your side during the tough times, ensuring you stay on track and avoid complications. In some cases, a coach can even spot warning signs and refer you to medical professionals if needed. Ultimately, a coach is not just an expert but a trusted partner in your journey toward sustainable self-care.
What’s the biggest myth about health and wellness?
One of the most common misconceptions is: “Just rest, and the pain will go away.” While it’s true that avoiding certain activities might provide temporary relief, it’s often not a long-term solution. When people stop engaging in certain movements altogether, they lose muscle strength, which further weakens their ability to perform daily activities. This cycle often leads to chronic pain, where avoiding the issue only makes things worse.
Pain management isn’t about avoidance—it’s about addressing the root cause, rebuilding strength, and gradually reintroducing activities. This is where professional guidance becomes crucial, as it ensures a safe and effective path to recovery.
What makes Aspire stand out to you personally?
What sets Aspire apart is its commitment to living by the same principles we teach our clients. As health professionals, we practice what we preach. If we don’t prioritize our own health and fitness, how can we genuinely encourage our clients to do so?
At Aspire, we believe in maintaining the same high standards for ourselves as we do for our clients. We understand the value of good health because we live it daily. This isn’t just about knowledge—it’s about application. When you’ve experienced the benefits of a healthy lifestyle firsthand, it becomes natural to share that value with others. Aspire’s philosophy is deeply rooted in this authenticity, which is why I’m proud to be part of the team.
From your experience, what’s the biggest challenge clients face today?
One of the biggest struggles clients face is navigating the flood of conflicting medical information. Even experts within the same field often have differing opinions, which leaves clients wondering whom to trust.
This challenge isn’t new—it dates back to the origins of modern medicine, when professionals often debated based on personal experience. Over time, evidence-based medicine introduced data and statistics to these discussions, yet the problem persists. Clients frequently lack the expertise needed to interpret this information, and the more they read online, the more uncertain they become. Helping clients cut through this noise and focus on what truly works is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
I’m a football nerd through and through. Growing up, football was one of my greatest joys. Whether it was playing with friends, battling it out in video games, or reading every football-related newspaper I could get my hands on, I was immersed in the world of the sport. Watching weekend matches and cheering for my favorite team was a ritual.
As I grew older, football and physiotherapy naturally intertwined. My passion for providing the best treatment and rehabilitation led me to study strength and conditioning, giving me a deeper understanding of athletes’ training routines. It helped me answer the questions I’d always had: Why do some players get injured so often? How do chronic injuries develop?
Beyond that, I’ve delved into football tactics and how they influence performance—knowledge that’s not only fascinating but also helps me assist injured players in getting back on the field. My ultimate goal? To keep playing football until I’m 50 and still hold my own on the pitch!
